Antonio Gómez Rodríguez was born in Michoacán on June 1, 1888 and in 1938 he arrived in Pénjamo, Gto., where he lived with his grandparents. He created the definitive and official model of the National Shield, commissioned in 1917 by the then President of Mexico, Venustiano Carranza.
