- Prosecutors say Trinity Healthcare Services, which had a COVID-19 contract, received more than $5 million after seeking $50,000 due to a clerical error, then settled with the state.
- Prosecutors allege Cherfilus-McCormick and co-defendants routed overpaid funds through relatives and spent more than $100,000 on a yellow diamond ring, facing 15 federal counts.
- The delay effectively pushes back the Jan. 26 trial date assigned to U.S. District Judge Darrin Gayles, and David Oscar Markus pledged to resolve the retention issue by Feb. 3 and address it at Wednesday's scheduling conference.
- Cherfilus-McCormick is a sitting member of Congress from Florida's 20th District, remaining free on bond since her Nov. 25 appearance with travel-restriction terms and a congressional passport.
