Kenworth, Peterbilt Maker Cuts Jobs in Quebec Amid Weak Market
Truck maker PACCAR Inc., parent company of the Kenworth and Peterbilt nameplates, will lay off 175 employees in its Sainte-Therese, Que.-plant over weakening demand, according to a news release sent by a local union of Unifor.
The U.S. truck manufacturer announced the lay-off of 175 employees, which will take effect in early August.
The Paccar factory in Sainte-Thérèse will open 175 employees on August 4, adding to the 250 job losses announced last December.
The brake blow is intensifying at Paccar in Sainte-Thérèse, Laurentides. Some 175 workers – about 20% of the factory workforce – will be laid off as of August 4th, as the truck manufacturer sees its deliveries shrink and hard to get sales in Quebec.
