AMC+ to Be U.S. Streaming Home for 'Doctor Who'
The deal brings more than 150 episodes starring five Doctors to the streamer, while the two newest Disney-produced seasons stay on Disney+.
- Starting June 11, AMC+ will stream the first 13 seasons of Doctor Who, bringing 176 episodes featuring the Ninth through Thirteenth Doctors to U.S. audiences for the first time in years.
- The deal represents a homecoming for the British sci-fi series, which previously aired on AMC Global Media-owned BBC America from 2009 to 2022. The show premiered in the United States 20 years ago, establishing a dedicated fanbase.
- Subscribers will access 176 episodes, though the acquisition excludes recent content produced during the BBC's partnership with Disney. The 60th anniversary specials and Fifteenth Doctor era starring Ncuti Gatwa remain exclusive to Disney+ in the United States.
- Courtney Thomasma, Executive Vice President of AMC Global Media, said the acquisition "strengthens AMC+'s position as a destination for premium genre storytelling." The series joins franchises including The Walking Dead Universe and Interview With the Vampire.
- Fans can anticipate a new Christmas special later this year, even as the franchise's future streaming distribution remains complex. This addition offers viewers a comprehensive look at the program's recent past as Doctor Who continues to evolve.

It has been almost a full year since anyone in the United States has been able to stream the entirety of modern Doctor Who in one place.
