Commonwealth Games Host for 2030 Named

On Wednesday, Ahmedabad was formally confirmed as host of the 2030 Commonwealth Games after delegates of 74 Commonwealth member nations and territories ratified India's bid at the Commonwealth Sport General Assembly.
Last month the Executive Board of Commonwealth Sport recommended Ahmedabad after a thorough review by the Commonwealth Sport Evaluation Committee, with India's delegation including PT Usha, Raghuram Iyer, Harsh Sanghavi, and Joint Sports Secretary Kunal.
Prime venues include the Narendra Modi Stadium and the under-construction Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave, which will serve as an athletes' village with capacity up to 3,000; organisers say Ahmedabad exceeds Glasgow 2026 in scale.
Hosting the Centenary Games returns the CWG to India after two decades, with Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya confirming Ahmedabad will also host the World Police Games and the Amdavad 2030 organising team collaborating with Commonwealth Sport.
Next month organisers will begin finalising the remaining programme, with Commonwealth Sport confirming 15 to 17 sports and allowing the host to propose up to 2 new or traditional sports.
