Umeå Municipality has installed a protective glass on the audience gallery in the council chamber. Plans to introduce the glass wall have been in the works for some time, but were accelerated by an incident in the Riksdag last autumn. “It was the incident when they threw tomatoes at politicians, that’s when it became relevant,” says Peder Halläng, coordinator for the city management office.
