Afghanistan Wins the Toss and Bowls Against India in the Second One-Day Match
Hashmatullah Shahidi said the pitch looked fresh and likely to aid spin as Afghanistan tries to level the three-match series.
On Wednesday, Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, opting to bowl first against India in the second ODI match of the three-match series.
India enters the contest leading the series 1-0 after securing a seven-wicket victory in the rain-shortened first ODI in Dharamsala, where the team chased a 195-run target in 24.5 overs.
Indian captain Shubman Gill confirmed three changes to the lineup, including Prince Yadav's debut and the return of Kuldeep Yadav and Yashasvi Jaiswal. "We would have bowled first as well," Gill said.
Explaining his decision, Shahidi noted the pitch appeared fresh and likely to assist spin early, while admitting his team struggled to build partnerships in the previous match but expressed confidence they would bounce back.
The series concludes with the third and final ODI in Chennai on Saturday, setting up a decisive match to determine the overall winner of the three-match contest.
