The Administrative Court temporarily halted the culling of 206 bears following a lawsuit by conservationists, but culling in emergency cases, based on a permit, remains possible.

The last bear attack on a human occurred at the end of May.
The Chief Environmental Protection Office has authorized the culling of three brown bears in the Cisna commune. The reason is said to be to ensure the safety of residents. Environmentalists are warning that systemic, not radical, solutions are needed and are demanding the decision be withdrawn. The Cisna commune assures that this is a last resort, one it does not intend to pursue. However, this is not the first time it has requested the cull.
