Sreenivasan: Kerala Bids Farewell to a Legend

On December 20, Sreenivasan died while being taken for routine dialysis, and he was cremated with full state honours at Kandanad, Udayamperoor on December 21, 2025 at 10 am.
He had been unwell for years, underwent heart surgery in 2022, and Sathyan Anthikad said, `I used to visit him once every two weeks. Though he had recently undergone surgery and had difficulty walking, his mind and thought process were very sharp,` Anthikad added.
Public homage drew hundreds to Town Hall on Saturday before his body was brought to Kandanad around 4.45 pm for last rites.
Tributes poured in from Mohanlal, Rajinikanth, Mammootty, Suriya, and V D Satheesan, amid his 48-year career with 54 screenplays and two directed films.
His screenplays and satire positioned Sreenivasan as a chronicler of the common man, and actress Manju Warrier said `To transcend time is the most beautiful mark an artist can leave on this earth`.
