Thirty canons and others related to the St-Maurice Abbey (VS) were involved in 67 situations of sexual abuse and assault, with at least 68 victims, according to the report presented by an independent working group on Friday, which confirms the information revealed in 2023 and goes even further.
The working group to shed light on sexual abuse within the framework of the Valais religious institution reveals an overwhelming report. The document counts 67 cases between 1950 and 2022, and 57 minor victims. It reveals serious shortcomings of the hierarchy, between inaction, displacement of clerics, laxism and concealment.
