Police officer shot in Nottingham city centre
Police recovered a firearm and are searching for a man and a woman after an officer was shot and treated for a foot wound.
On Sunday, a Nottinghamshire Police officer was shot in Nottingham city centre after approaching two individuals in Angel Row at 4:50 a.m. The officer is receiving hospital treatment for a foot wound.
Two suspects, described as a man and a woman, fled the scene immediately following the shooting and remain at large. Police confirmed a firearm was recovered from the location.
Authorities established a large cordon spanning from Angel Row to St James's Street to secure the scene for forensic investigation. Marked police cars remain on-site while officers guard the perimeter.
Assistant Chief Constable Claire Rukas described the incident as a "shocking incident" and "sobering reminder" of officer dangers. She urged anyone with information to call 101 quoting incident 106.
The East Midlands Ambulance Service and Nottingham East Labour MP Nadia Whittome expressed support for the injured officer, wishing him full recovery. Public appeals for information continue as investigations remain active.
