[Hateruma] A flock of boobies, which are said to breed mainly on Nakano-Mikoto Island and the Senkaku Islands in the Yaeyama Islands, was spotted from a ship on a regular route between Hateruma and Ishigaki at around 5:00 pm on May 20th. Boobies are seabirds with a wingspan of 150 cm. In Japan, they breed in the southern Izu Islands, the Ogasawara Islands, and the Iwo Islands.
