After a big row at the last session of the city council in Zakopane, the local government under Giewont is withdrawing for now from the idea of collecting a "market fee" from the owners of souvenir and cheese stalls operating throughout the city. Mayor Łukasz Filipowicz tried to plug a hole in the budget in this way. However, the traders believe that they are not able to bear another tax and the fee will bankrupt them.
