Woman drowns while swimming near Galveston beach, beach patrol says
GALVESTON, Texas (KIAH) -- A woman who went swimming overnight at Galveston Island died after she drowned in the waters, authorities said. The Galveston Island Beach Patrol said that they received a report at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday about a missing swimmer. About five minutes later, the victim, a 25-year-old woman, was found and given CPR. Paramedics arrived at the scene and took the victim to UTMB-Galveston Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
A 78-year-old woman drowned today at noon on the beach of Racó in Cullera (Ribera Baixa). According to the Emergency Information and Coordination Center (CICU), she was pulled unconscious from the water and the medical team was unable to do anything to save her life.
