Today, the members of the European Union reached an agreement on securing 90 billion euros for Ukraine, so that Kiev could cover the deficit in the budget and buy weapons, announced the Cypriot presidency of the Council of the EU.
The EU states have agreed how Kiev is allowed to use the money. Switzerland is excluded as a supplier of arms – which makes no difference in practice at the moment.
By 2027, Ukraine will be able to use EUR 30 billion for its budgetary needs and EUR 60 billion to invest in its defence industry or to buy military equipment from companies in the European Union and associated countries.

EU member states today reached an agreement on a €90 billion loan proposal for Ukraine for the period 2026-27. Of this, €60 billion will be allocated for military assistance and €30 billion for macro-financial assistance to Kiev. The Council of the EU, which includes member states, will now negotiate the proposal with the European Parliament.
