Volvo Increases the Batteries for 2028 XC60 and XC90 Plug-in Refresh
- On Tuesday, Volvo Cars launched new long-range hybrid variants of its XC60 and XC90 models for European and American markets.
- Larger battery packs and a more powerful electric motor enable the new variants to achieve electric range more than "two and a half times as long as existing variants," Volvo said.
- Inside the cabin, the XC60 offers up to 200 km of electric range while the XC90 provides up to 160 km, both featuring an 11.2-inch touchscreen and Google Gemini integration.
- Volvo refreshed the exterior with updated "Thor's Hammer" LED headlights and revised bumpers, adding Lane Change Assist and Bowers & Wilkins audio to higher trim levels.
- These long-range hybrids represent a "bridge to a fully electric future," Volvo Cars said, while mild-hybrid versions of both SUVs remain available for customer flexibility.
