A major wastewater pipe near Charlotte’s NorthLake Mall broke Thursday, releasing an estimated 348,333 gallons of untreated wastewater into Dixon Branch creek. Charlotte Water confirmed the major break, saying the break was caused by creek bank erosion that led the pipe to collapse into the water.
