Tragic Accident Claims Lives of 3 CRPF Personnel in Udhampur, Many Injured
UDHAMPUR DISTRICT, JAMMU AND KASHMIR, INDIA, AUG 7 – The vehicle skidded off a mountainous road due to difficult terrain and possible overspeeding, killing three personnel and injuring 16, with locals aiding rescue efforts, officials said.
- On August 7, 2025, three CRPF personnel lost their lives and 15 were wounded when the vehicle transporting them veered off the roadway and tumbled into a gorge in the Kandva-Basantgarh area of Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir.
- The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 am in the Kadwa area as members of the 187 battalion were heading back from an operation in Basant Garh.
- Police, civil administration, and local residents immediately launched rescue operations and evacuated the injured to a nearby hospital where some are in critical condition.
- Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh stated that rescue efforts are fully supported, local residents have willingly joined in assisting, and Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai is actively overseeing the situation.
- The incident caused three deaths and several injuries, underscoring the dangers faced by security forces in difficult terrain and prompting condolences from the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.
