Man killed after his SUV plows into traffic signal in South Elgin

A man died Monday afternoon after his SUV struck a traffic signal pole at Stearns Road and South McLean Boulevard in South Elgin. The victim, whose name has not been released, was driving a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe at a high rate of speed when the collision occurred about 5:20 p.m., a news release from the South Elgin Police Department said.
