The Minister of Science and Technology wrote: “sufficient information has been gathered and there is a reasonable suspicion that improper data processing has occurred.”
Based on the investigations so far, there is a suspicion that data management was not appropriate, therefore the government will file a report with the National Data Protection and Freedom of Information Authority (NAIH) regarding the Caregiver Watch program, Minister Zoltán Tanács announced.
Bertalan Havasi admitted that Fidesz had access to the data of users of the Care Watch program - According to him, every party had the opportunity to obtain the data, but they did not take advantage of it.
The government is contacting the National Data Protection and Freedom of Information Authority after new documents emerged about the handling of user data for the Care Watch program. Based on the available information, suspicions arose that the data of seniors over 78 years of age may have been used beyond the scope of the contract with Fidesz.
The minister writes that there is a well-founded suspicion that users' data was handled improperly; Fidesz activists approached elderly people based on this.
