Lawyer, writer, and musician Maksim Znak, who was released after almost five years of imprisonment in Belarus, on Monday removed a poster with his image from the Belarusian embassy in Vilnius, which has become a symbol of solidarity with political prisoners.
The event was attended by people who supported M. Znak during his imprisonment – members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the Belarusian community, and other supporters of political prisoners. Also present were representatives of the United States Embassy in Lithuania and the Lithuanian Bar Association, who initiated the hanging of the poster with M. Znak's image two years ago.
