Zelenskyy, however, said that he would prefer an American commitment for security of up to 50 years in order to restrict further Russian attempts to seize Ukraine’s territory by force.
According to President Selenskyy, the United States offered Ukraine strong security guarantees for a period of at first 15 years. Selenskyy stated that without these guarantees the war could not be considered to have ended. Moreover, Selenskyy continued a meeting with Russian government representatives on conditions. Actually, however, he strives for a considerably longer period of time.
However, it is not known what guarantees Trump promised.
Zelensky asked Trump for more, suggesting that these guarantees would be a condition for lifting martial law.
