Never-Completed 'Hospital of the Future' Catches Fire in Zagreb

A massive fire has broken out in an abandoned hospital at the entrance to Zagreb. Authorities have urged local residents to close windows and avoid the area where the fire is burning. Initial reports suggest the fire started in the basement, where several companies are believed to have their warehouses.

A large fire broke out on Saturday afternoon in the area of an unfinished university hospital in the Zagreb suburb of Blato, which firefighters managed to bring under control only after several hours, and then burned all night. The cause of the fire is not yet known, Croatian media report.

The area of the part of the building affected by the fire is approximately 1,600 square meters.
