- On Thursday, the Athletics Federation of India announced a final 77-member squad for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, naming javelin thrower Yashvir Singh as replacement for injured Worlds and Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra.
- Long-Distance runner Abhishek Pal was dropped following a National Anti-Doping Agency doping notice regarding a substance detected below threshold level, while hurdler Tejas Shirse was omitted due to injury sustained at the Commonwealth Games.
- Officials added six athletes to the roster, including quarter-miler Kiran Pahal and pole vaulter Sindhushree G, while Gulveer Singh and Parul Chaudhary will compete in three events each at the Asian Games.
- Separately, the AFI requested that organizers allow 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games double medallist Avinash Sable to compete in the 5000m event alongside his confirmed 3000m steeplechase entry, pending organizer clearance.
- Sable must achieve the AFI's qualification mark in the 5000m at the Indian Athletics Series Finals in New Delhi on September 10 to secure his spot for the additional event.
