CHINA, JUL 3 – Xiaomi has received over 289,000 pre-orders for the YU7 SUV within the first hour of launch and plans global sales by 2027 to compete with Tesla.
- In a recent statement, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun revealed plans to expand its EV offerings globally around 2027, targeting Spain, Germany, and France despite tariffs and market hurdles.
- Following Xiaomi's YU7 launch, 289,000 pre-orders were made within one hour, surpassing SU7 sales and igniting a Chinese buying frenzy.
- The YU7 base model accelerates to 60 mph in 5.88 seconds, reaches 149 mph, has a 96.3 kWh battery with 519-mile range, and charges from 10% to 80% in 21 minutes.
- Despite tariffs from the EU, US, and Turkey, Xiaomi plans to establish an R&D center in Munich and test sales in Germany, Spain, and France around 2027.
