WTA Finals moving from Saudi Arabia to Indian Wells in November

The WTA said the season-ending event will be held at Indian Wells Tennis Garden, with the field limited to the top eight singles players and doubles teams.

  • On Wednesday, the WTA announced the 2026 WTA Finals will relocate from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in California. The organization requested the change, ending the three-year hosting arrangement with the Saudi Tennis Federation after two years.
  • The Saudi Tennis Federation accepted the WTA's proposal to relocate the season-ending championship, with both organizations mutually agreeing to conclude the hosting agreement early. The event debuted in the Kingdom in 2024 and will not complete its intended three-year stay.
  • Scheduled for November 8-15, the tournament will take place at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, which can hold over 16,000 fans. The site already hosts the combined BNP Paribas Open for the ATP and WTA every March.
  • WTA Chair Valerie Camillo praised the venue for its "world-class facilities," describing it as an exceptional stage to showcase women's tennis. This relocation follows frequent venue changes since 2018, including stops in Singapore, China, Mexico, and Texas.
  • Future host locations for the event starting 2027 remain unclear. Despite this change, Saudi Arabia continues investing in tennis infrastructure, including plans for a National Tennis Centre in Qiddiya City that aims to be a future home for international tournaments.
