This year was the year with the most dramatic spike in cases of the disease, with 102 sick animals, compared to only 55 in all of 2024 - when the first death occurred, a 76-year-old Nazareth resident. The outbreak of the disease is mainly widespread on the northern border, due to the intrusion of sick wild animals from neighboring countries - Lebanon, Syria and Jordan.
