Woman dies after rescue from Dan River in Madison

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A woman has died a week after being rescued from the Dan River in Madison. The woman was rescued in the afternoon on July 21. County officials say that heavy rainfall from the past few days has made the water levels dangerously high. According to a Rockingham County spokesperson, a bystander pulled the woman out of the water before the first responders arrived and took her to the hospital, where she later died.
