Woman arrested on suspicion of murder after death of two children in Stafford

On October 12, two children died at a home on Corporation Street, Stafford, and a 43-year-old woman from Stafford was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
Emergency services were scrambled to the property at around 7.30 this morning after West Midlands Ambulance Service alerted officers, and a cordon is in place at Corporation Street, Stafford.
Next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers, while detectives urged people not to speculate about the tragedy.
The force sought to reassure the local community, saying there is no wider threat to the public at this time and asking witnesses to call 101 quoting incident 147 of October 12.
Investigations continue as police seek to understand the sequence of events, with Detective Inspector Kirsty Oldfield saying officers are working hard to understand what happened leading up to the deaths.
