Woman Wanted for Sex Crimes in Lithuania Found in UK Wardrobe
The 23-year-old was detained under a Lithuanian extradition warrant after officers forced entry and found her in a bedroom wardrobe, police said.
On Wednesday, June 3, officers from the PSNI International Policing Unit arrested a 23-year-old woman in Coalisland, County Tyrone, acting on a Lithuanian extradition warrant for serious child sexual offences.
Lithuanian authorities are seeking the woman's return to serve a prison sentence for offences committed against a child in the Mazeikiai area of the Baltic state.
Police forced entry to the rural property, where officers "located the woman hiding in a wardrobe" as she attempted to evade capture during the raid.
The woman is scheduled to appear before the Laganside Extradition Court on Thursday, June 4, to face extradition proceedings for the alleged crimes.
Sergeant Davey from the International Policing Unit said the arrest is "another example" of the PSNI "working to locate, arrest and bring before the courts those who are wanted for serious offences in Europe.
