Woman, 92, using walker killed by vehicle after driver’s failed attempt to park, cops say

A motorist trying to park a car Friday afternoon in Maplewood instead drove through bushes and grass dividing a parking lot from the road, striking and killing a 92-year-old pedestrian using a walker, officials said. Juli Towell was hit moments after the driver’s failed attempt to park at the Winchester Gardens Rehabilitation Facility on the 300 block of Elmwood Avenue at 5 p.m, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said Monday.
