Woman Arrested over 2008 Murder in Co Donegal
Gardaí say the woman is being held under the Offences Against the State Act as they continue to seek others linked to the killing.
On Thursday, Garda Siochana arrested a woman in her 60s in connection with the 2008 murder of 27-year-old Andrew Burns, detaining her at a North-West Garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
Burns was shot twice in the back on a roadway near Donnyloop Church in Castlefin on February 12, 2008, and was pronounced dead shortly before 8pm.
Martin Kelly, a Strabane native, received a life sentence for the murder in 2012, though Garda Siochana have previously stated they believe several people were involved in the killing.
Garda Siochana are appealing for information about a red van seen near Donnyloop at approximately 7pm on February 12, 2008, urging witnesses to contact Letterkenny Garda Station or the Garda Confidential Line.
A Family Liaison Officer continues to support Burns' family as investigations into the 2008 murder remain ongoing.
