Wind-driven grass fire extinguished on Geary County
Geary County Rural Fire Department responded Thursday afternoon to a grass fire fueled by extreme winds in the 2400 block of West Lyon Creek Road. The call came in around 1:10 p.m. Fire officials requested five trucks due to the high wind conditions, though three units — including the department’s new brush truck — were ultimately used to extinguish the fire.
