Why Julie Andrews Has Ruled Out a Return for Princess Diaries 3

- Julie Andrews confirmed she will not reprise her role as Queen Clarisse Renaldi in the third Princess Diaries film, a decision made after the creative team approached her last year.
- During an interview Monday, Aug. 10, Andrews explained she prefers staying out of public view, noting she is "really past all that now" and feels she should not be part of on-camera work.
- Anne Hathaway, who plays Mia Thermopolis, previously told Entertainment Tonight she hoped Andrews would return; Hathaway, 43, confirmed in 2024 that a third Princess Diaries film was in development with director Adele Lim, though it "is not greenlit or confirmed yet."

- Andrews is currently focusing on voiceover work, including her role as Lady Whistledown in Netflix's Bridgerton, and is set to feature in a Disney Plus documentary about her life releasing in 2027.
