Pope Leo XIV named Bishop Carlos Enrique Samaniego López as the residential bishop of Texcoco on 21 August. Since 2019 he served as the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Mexico, where he accompanied the Vicariate of Consecrated and Pastoral Life, the V and VI Pastoral Zone, as well as the Dimension of Sacred Art and Cultural Property.
