HRW revealed that the Israeli occupying forces used white phosphorous munitions 23 times in Lebanon between two months.
It burns to the bone, and its remains may burn back into the wound as soon as it is exposed to air, causing life-long damage to the injured. However, international law does not classify it as incendiary weapons.
The organization says new international rules are needed and that white phosphorus weapons, which cause brutal burns, should be restricted.
Human Rights Watch (HRW) again documented Wednesday the continued use of white phosphorus by the Israeli army in Lebanon, stressing the need for new international legislation to regulate these "destructive weapons," EFE reports.
Human Rights Watch has urged new international regulations on the chemical that would close existing legal loopholes.
