When the GDR cult comic "Mosaik" almost moved to the West

In the GDR, the "Digedags" were cults. For the 100th birthday of their creator Hannes Hegen, his work is now widely appreciated – with readings in Dresden and a new comic from two rediscovered manuscripts.

On May 16, 1925, Hannes Hegen was born - inventor of the East German cult comic "Mosaik". A biographer found out that the artist, who had always been in contact with the GDR authorities, had flight plans to the West at the beginning of the 1960s - and still remained in the end.
