Würzburg/Berlin – Starting in the second half of January 2026, hypothermic machine perfusion of kidneys (HMP) will be implemented nationwide in organ donation procedures in Germany. It is intended not only to improve the quality of donor organs, but also, through expanded donor criteria, to increase the number of kidneys that are actually suitable for transplantation.
