He was almost seventy when he took the first step on the path that would become his life's work. Jan Dokter devised the 336-kilometre-long Westerborkpad along the Amsterdam-Hooghalen railway line. The route along which twenty-seven family members were transported via Westerbork to the extermination camps during the war.
