- On Aug. 28, West St. Paul Police Department said a man was fatally shot after an almost eight-hour barricade when a South Metro SWAT member fired as the suspect pointed a long gun at officers about 6:40 p.m.
- After officers found a motorcycle linked to the suspect, West St. Paul Police Department surrounded a home in the 1200 block of Ottawa Avenue and evacuated residents Thursday.
- Members of South Metro SWAT took over about 2:15 p.m., deploying a cellphone, drones and robotics as the suspect fired at officers for four hours, striking armored SWAT vehicles and an officer's ballistic shield while police used chemical irritants.
- The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the officer-involved shooting and emphasized there is no ongoing threat while BCA agents and crime-scene personnel remain on scene.
- The standoff prompted shelter-in-place orders and street closures, with local residents ordered to shelter in place and streets blocked around the scene following a deadly attack at Annunciation Catholic School.
