West Bengal hands over 1,024 acres to BSF for fencing along India-Bangladesh border

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said the handover covers 172.6 km of border fencing and includes land bought directly from farmers.

In a significant move, West Bengal has handed over 1,000 acres to the BSF for enhanced border fencing across 172.6 kilometers of the India-Bangladesh border. The Murshidabad district saw the largest portion of land transferred. Moreover, North 24 Parganas and Cooch Behar followed suit with notable land transfers, as the government strives for a harmonious blend of development and environmental conservation in Jangalmahal.
