After a storm hit Warsaw on the night of 19-20 August, firefighters had to intervene several hundred times. Due to the nightly downpours, the police issued an alarm for the officers of the capital garrison. Many basements and underground garages were flooded, and some routes were completely impassable. Due to the pressure of the water, the roof of the Sadyba Best Mall shopping centre was also destroyed.

The heavy downpours that passed over Warsaw on Monday and on the night from Monday to Tuesday have taken their toll on many residents and businesses. Some streets are still impassable, and the Sadyba Best Mall shopping mall is closed until further notice. Chopin Airport and Lidl have also been battling the floods. Many cars have also been drowned.

"As a result of weather conditions, damage to the roof occurred. The place was closed to use. Firefighters were sent to the site," junior brigadier Michał Konopka from the State Fire Service in Warsaw told Onet.
