Wanted drug kingpin ‘Kanmo-Kanmo’ arrested 12 years after murder of 3 NDLEA officers

Lekan Jimoh was arrested in Ogun State with 69kg of cannabis, ending a 12-year pursuit after his role in killing three NDLEA officers in 2014, officials said.

  • On Friday, NDLEA tactical teams arrested Lekan Jimoh, popularly known as Kanmo-Kanmo, in Owode town, Ogun State, ending a 12-year manhunt.
  • Jimoh orchestrated a mob attack on June 15, 2014, that killed three NDLEA officers, including Rabiu Usman Kazaure, but he escaped and NDLEA vowed to pursue justice.
  • During the operation, officers recovered 69 kilograms of skunk, and an August 12, 2023 raid seized 139 sacks totalling 1,922 kilograms; his Ado-Odo, Ogun State warehouse was forfeited to the Federal Government.
  • The NDLEA described the arrest as a `triumph of justice` and praised officers and operatives, with Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa urging them to maintain the current tempo.
  • NDLEA noted Jimoh's history of mobilising armed thugs and violence, describing him as notorious for trafficking and evading arrest, with the machete incident injuring one officer.
