It has been discovered that a veterinarian who was treating a cat infected with Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (SFTS), a virus transmitted to mammals through ticks, has died. It is suspected that the veterinarian was also infected.
Already 200 cases of TBE have been confirmed this year – compared to 196 cases in all of 2024. Concerns about tick-borne diseases are causing more and more people to get vaccinated against TBE. Clinics have noticed increased pressure this year.
