Veteran BJP leader LK Advani admitted to Delhi's Apollo hospital with chest infection, condition stable
The 97-year-old former deputy prime minister is being treated in the pulmonary department after a chest infection, hospital officials said.
On Friday, veteran BJP leader and former party president LK Advani was admitted to Apollo Hospital in New Delhi for treatment of a chest infection; his condition is reported as stable.
Previously treated at the same facility in May for age-related ailments, Advani served as India's Home Minister from 1999 to 2004 and Deputy Prime Minister from 2002 to 2004.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Advani at his residence on October 7 to mark 25 years of his own governance and seek the veteran leader's blessings.
In recognition of his decades of public service, President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, upon Advani in March of last year.
Born in Karachi in 1927, Advani joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in 1942 and later served as the longest-tenured BJP National President in the party's history.
