A group of Venezuelan migrants arrived in La Miel, the last Panamanian coastal village before crossing to Colombia, soaked and frightened after the dangerous crossing through the waters of the Caribbean, in a “reverse migration” after desisting from continuing their way to the United States and not being caught and deported by the Trump administration to El Salvador’s prisons.

The first part of the return route is done by bus. Once you step on Central America, Venezuelan migrants must take a boat from Panamanian provinces like Colón. In the boats, low risk, women, children and older adults travel.
