Vasundhara Enclave: DU asst professor’s estranged spouse joins murder probe
Police are questioning the husband and reviewing CCTV as they investigate a possible known-assailant attack after finding no signs of theft.
On Thursday, Devarati Paul discovered her sister, Delhi University professor Devosmita Paul, dead inside her flat at Satyam Apartment in Vasundhara Enclave, prompting police to launch a murder investigation.
Delhi Police arrested two individuals in West Bengal citing a property dispute with the victim, while investigators question the victim's husband who traveled from Pune on Saturday.
The murder occurred Wednesday between 1 pm and 6 pm with no signs of forced entry, suggesting Devosmita Paul knew her attacker; CCTV captured two masked suspects inside the complex for approximately 40 minutes.
Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Kumar confirmed the arrests on Sunday, stating the two suspects will be brought to Delhi for further interrogation while police review CCTV footage involving 200 people.
From the pool of 200 people, police identified 10 suspects by name while three remain unidentified, as officers continue tracking additional leads to determine the incident's full scope.
A dispute over a property in Bardhaman escalated into a horrific murder in Delhi. In the murder case of DU Assistant Professor Debosmita Paul, police have revealed that the accused family traveled to Delhi from West Bengal, carried out the crime, and returned by train. CCTV, phone tracking, and railway records revealed the entire conspiracy.
