A Vancouver Island man is putting himself in the middle of an active war zone to help evacuate hundreds of animals and the people who refuse to leave them behind. Jesse Adams, founder and executive director of Greater Victoria-based RainCoast Dog Rescue, has spent nearly three months working in eastern Ukraine alongside Animal Rescue Kharkiv, rescuing pets from communities under constant bombardment in the Donbas region.
