The Schuman Declaration of 9 May 1950 is regarded by many as the birth of today's EU: the then French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman proposed the creation of a European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC), whose first six founding states were to merge their production. Today's Europe Day is a rather thoughtful 75th birthday, as the look into the comment columns shows.

Kosovo joined today the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, which laid the foundations for the EU and paved the way for an unprecedented era of prosperity, peace, democracy, solidarity and cooperation in Europe. To mark this day, the European Union Office in Pristina joined the numerous events held in EU member states, with the participation of Ambassador Aivo Orav.
