Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Is on the 2026 TIME100 Next
The 15-year-old is one of seven athletes on the list, after becoming the youngest player to score a century in men's T20 cricket.
On Wednesday, Time Magazine unveiled its TIME100 Next list, naming 15-year-old Indian cricket sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as the youngest honoree among 100 emerging global talents.
The Bihar prodigy first gained professional attention during the 2024 Ranji Trophy aged 12, then became the youngest player ever signed at an Indian Premier League auction when Rajasthan Royals acquired him.
Dominating franchise cricket, Sooryavanshi smashed 252 runs in seven innings during his maiden IPL season and walloped 72 sixes in 16 games, surpassing T20 icon Chris Gayle's record by 20 maximums.
Becoming the youngest male player to represent India, Sooryavanshi eclipsed legend Sachin Tendulkar's record following his international debut against England in July at Manchester. He is currently competing in Japan with India's Asian Games cricket team.
Time CEO Jessica Sibley stated that this year's list-makers are "pushing boundaries, creating new possibilities, and advancing their fields and communities around the world." Sooryavanshi joins athletes including Arch Manning, Tyrese Maxey, and Naomi Girma.
